House Tour: Part 1

I thought I'd let all of you see our new house, up close and personal. It allows me to feel somewhat accomplished, to see all of the changes we've made and are still making to our new house. And since we live so far away from pretty much all of our friends and family, I thought I'd share!

This was the master bedroom before we moved in:

And this is our bedroom today:

Eventually I would like to move the chest of drawers farther to the left and replace our tube TV with an LCD that we can mount on the wall. Oh to dream!

Our bedroom furniture belonged to my grandparents and they were nice enough to "donate" it to us since we were in dire need of a bedroom suite!

We painted the walls Olympic "Toasted Almond" and the trim "Off White". We installed faux wood blinds in the windows, and we also replaced the carpet with laminate flooring that matched the rest of the house. With dogs, we figured we needed flooring that would stand the test of time and would be "easy clean-up". The one thing I DON'T like about the floors is that the dogs sound like they're tap dancing when they walk across, and we can no longer have them in our bedroom at night! We have to use a baby gate to keep them in the living room...

It's actually quite smaller than our previous bedroom, but the bonus is that we have two walk-in closets, so plenty of space for clothes and storage!

This is one of my favorite pictures from our wedding that I photoshopped myself (there was a power line right behind us). It's old home was my desk at work, but now it sits atop my night stand. The Mill Mountain Star is visible in the background, which is a place that is very special to us - Tim proposed to me at the star!

And for some reason, I can't seem to find our alarm clocks, so that's why they aren't present in these pictures. The joys of moving! :)

This is a small jewelry box that my friend April gave me as a Maid-of-Honor gift for her wedding. The good thing about my initials before we got married and my initials now, is that they work for both! It just depends on how you display the monogram. I LOVE my little jewelry box and keep all of my frequently-worn items in here.

This was a gift from my sister when Tim and I were married. She presented it to us during her toast at the reception - it was a perfect toast and a very thoughtful idea! We loved it!

Inside is a little compass, to show us the way! It's also kinda cool because I was a geography major at Tech. Very neat idea :)

I plan on finishing the tour of our home, but they will be posted as the rooms become "done". :) Our guest room doesn't have blinds yet, and Noel's room is also in a state of transition.

Tim's flower bed should be completed soon too, and I'll post pictures of that!

  2. Hahaha! Yea I felt funny about that too, but it was Tim's suggestion, so I assume he doesn't mind ;-) If Padme's name started with an "O" it would be a little more obvious reference, but oh well. We're not getting anymore animals!
